Family and Community Mean Everything
My family and my community mean everything to me! Iām running for Macomb County Prosecutor to protect our families and our community, particularly our most vulnerable residents ā our children and our senior citizens.
Iām blessed to have the love and support of my parents, who inspired my dedication to serving other people as a volunteer for over 40 years. My father, Bob, is a manufacturerās representative who still works each day in the glass industry at age 88. My mother, Marge, is a retired nurse and former executive director of a home health care agency.
My parents gave back to the community by volunteering in professional, civic, and charitable organizations, setting an example that I have followed my entire life. I have volunteered throughout my life, beginning in elementary school as a safety patrol officer, selling candy and American flags for charities and running an annual carnival for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Each day I try to contribute in a positive and meaningful way.
My opportunity to become a lawyer was built on the shoulders of my grandparents. My paternal grandfather, John Rombach, was an elected leader and then business manager for UA (Plumbers) Local 50 in Toledo, Ohio. My grandmother, Marie, was active in the Catholic Church and raised a family of five children on the mighty Maumee River. My maternal grandfather, Albert Christensen, homesteaded arid government land between the Badlands and the Black Hills in South Dakota. He and my grandmother, Sophia, were ranchers and farmers and raised three daughters.
Iām proud that my grandfather and my father served in the U.S. Army. Albert enlisted for World War I as a wagoner to supply the front lines of the Allied forces in France and Germany. Bob was a Military Police Officer guarding our nationās nuclear weapons during the Korean War when he met Marge at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Iām in debt for their service and to everyone else in the military who has helped preserve our freedom and democracy.
Family and community mean everything. Iām grateful for my wife, brothers, other family members, friends and colleagues who have enriched my life in so many ways. And Iām grateful to all those heroes who have cared for our community through the current health crisis, including the medical professionals, police and fire officials, food-service and other frontline workers, staff and support personnel, and many others working to keep us safe.
During these challenging times of the coronavirus pandemic, I pray for you and your families to remain safe and healthy!
